Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

The Intensive Care Unit at the Istishari Arab Hospital provides care of premature and critically ill newborn infants. The premature baby will be moved to the NICU, and it may undergo a number of preliminary tests. The unit will provide round-the-clock care for the premature baby and it will also ensure continuity of quality care after the baby’s discharge from the NICU.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which consists of 40 incubators, is classified as one of the best-equipped units in the region. The unit is fully equipped with the most modern medical equipment’s and suitable facilities such as family waiting areas and rooms, and breast-feeding rooms. In addition to that, hospitalized patients are monitored by a qualified medical staff of neonatologists and nurses who work closely with doctors from many specialties in the hospital such as the Department of Hematology, Cardiology Department, Neurosurgery Department, General Surgery and Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Units.

• Giving fluids and nutrients through an intravenous (IV) tube

Pediatrics and Neonatology Specialist

Dr. Amjad Rajab is a Pediatrics and Neonatology Specialist, with more than 9 years of experience. Currently he is Specialist in Pediatrics and Neonatology, Head of Pediatric Department, Head of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Head of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Istishari Arab Hospital.

Prior to joining Istishari Arab Hospital in Ramallah, Dr. Rajab worked at Islamic Hospital and Farah Hospital - Jordan.

Dr. Rajab graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Odessa State Medical University - Ukraine, and then he joined the specialization program in the department of Pediatrics and Neonatology at Islamic Hospital - Jordan.
