Istishari Arab Hospital is considered the largest investment in the Palestinian health sector. The amount of investment in its construction is over US $60 million, but more important than the scale of investment, is the goals set for the hospital, in terms of providing world-class health services that ensure patient safety and satisfaction with the services provided. In addition, the quality of the secondary and tertiary services provided by the hospital, implements the vision of His Excellency President Abu Mazen, in localizing the health and medical services and building national health self-sufficiency to stop medical referrals for patients for treatment outside Palestine. This will eventually have a positive impact primarily on the comfort of the patient and their relatives and the provision of public funds. This will enable patients from the local population to be able to access all the services they need whenever they need them without trouble or hardship. They would be provided with diagnostic or therapeutic services inside the country with highly skilled and efficient medical healthcare workers. It all is geared towards building and strengthening an integrated and sustainable partnership with the Palestinian health care system of all kinds, primarily the Palestinian Governmental Health system, which is the pillar of health in Palestine and its official umbrella and legal reference.
Istishari Arab Hospital began operating in 2016 with an operational capacity of 70 beds as an initial operational stage, followed by a gradual operation of a larger number of treatment departments and an increase in the number of beds, bringing the total number of hospital beds to 330. At least half of the total are qualitative beds in terms of medical specialization.
The Istishari Arab Hospital is located on land with a total area of 13,000 square meters, on which a building with an area of 25,000 square meters has been constructed, spread over 14 floors. It was set up with high level of engineering designs that take into account the conditions and requirements of the hospital’s work, in accordance with the latest technological advances, and has been equipped with a special medical staff within the most accurate specialized international specifications. All this was developed in order to deal with the Palestinian society’s need for privileged secondary and tertiary health-care services, to stop the suffering of patients as much as possible, the need to access medical care abroad, to settle Palestinian health and medical services, to create conditions conducive to bringing Palestinian medical skills abroad and returning them to serve their community, and to provide the best medical services that meet the needs of patients in particular and the Palestinian health system in general.
The hospital provides distinguished services through the most efficient specialists, the latest and internationally recognized technologies, the highest levels of quality, with the highest level of service that ensures a distinctive environment of comfort and well-being for the patient and their visitors. The hospital also provides comprehensive medical and health services, both diagnostic (laboratory, genetic laboratory, radiology, tomography and MRI “magnetic resonance imaging”) and therapeutic services, including emergency services, where services are available for all medical specialties. The hospital is accredited by the Palestinian Medical Council as a teaching hospital for all specialties.
Istishari Arab Hospital holds the Joint Commission International Accreditation “JCIA”, and this requires daily follow-up of the quality of service provided, patient satisfaction, continuous improvement, and follow-up of all complaints and observations.
The hospital uses the computerized and electronic system in various parts of its work such as the electronic medical file, the computerized human resources system, the global financial system SAP and what connects these systems is computerized as well. Istishari Arab Hospital uses the computerized system to report, monitor and treat any medical or non-medical complaints, observations or abuses. It provides a full-time staff to follow up on them throughout the week. This allows and creates a healthy environment that treats problems or observations on the one hand and works on improvement on the other.
Through partners and investors, the hospital is currently building a separate building adjacent to the hospital connected by a bridge that will be used to transport patients. It has an area of 14,400 square meters as a first stage, all designated for the diagnosis and treatment of all types of cancer and tumors, and includes radiation therapy (Brachytherapy and External Beam), radiotherapy, chemotherapy, biological therapy, and hormonal therapy for adults and children, and marrow transplant. The building will also include a floor for palliative therapy, patients with intractable conditions, an outpatient floor and an emergency for tumors, as well as a floor for scientific research, lectures, seminars and educational meetings (under construction).
